Because after the rain, there remains the desire to be, the ecstasy, the love. Because after the rain, we say “at the end, that one, that night, we did not steal it” (S. Johannin)
At C12, the exhibition “Après la pluie” brings together for the first time the work of photographers Lara Gasparotto and Antoine Grenez, as well as the writer Simon Johannin. Through “After the Rain” they reveal what, beyond their young age, binds them: a love for the world of night, party, passion and friendship. Their rage to live and to be heard mixes with a poetic sweetness, in photos for some, in writing for the other. The calm impertinence of their images testifies to an exacerbated sensitivity.
This sensibility creeps into all their works. Series of very large photos of Lara Gasparotto are exhibited in the lobby of the gallery. A first for the artist who usually favors small formats. Then, in other spaces of the place, prints of Antoine Grenez are added to those of Gasparotto, accompanied by poems written by Simon Johannin. This exhibition is also an opportunity for the three artists to present their fanzine project, realized in 2018. It will be offered for sale during the vernissage as well as the latest novel by Capucine and Simon Johannin “Nino in the night”.
The C12 is a multidisciplinary platform, a safe place where freedom, diversity, creativity and alternative culture emancipate. It is located in the heart of the historic center of Brussels, in the depths of the Horta Gallery, alongside the Grand Place. Becoming an essential place for Belgian nightlife, the C12 wishes to reaffirm its commitment to art and culture by integrating new exhibitions and artistic installations. These will be placed in juxtaposition with its existing space, called “C5”. In order to satisfy its renewed aspirations, the C12 will inaugurate this ambitious and syncretic project, “After the rain”, history of a parallel and independent world, of a world with the so-called alternative culture. The space will thus offer its visitors and daily commuters the unexpected pleasure of a poetic exhibition. This one has for design to reveal the magic and the relics of these crazy nights, which one did not fly.

This simple pleasure to make wounds.
To let his heart split under a little love where others around him become nauseating.
We come back, for the pleasure of an earring that closes at the end of a friendly smile, to forget a little shit. To throw money in glasses and splash the floor with, feel that sticks with every step to celebrate life.
There are those who loop in their head goals ridiculous sex, and those who soothe them. Those who from the top of a pile of brick launch a gesture that will mark the memory forever. It’s the lights, they shine around the dark and make us crazy. Here there are plenty of butterflies with powder-covered wings that beat the air forming the crowd.
We see them cling to the ground and change, choose trust and make themselves vulnerable. And tell yourself at the end, that one, that night, we did not steal it.
