Initially trained in choreography, Fabrice Domenet practices his profession as a dancer while simultaneously devoting himself to photography, a self-taught artist.
A close relationship exists between these two inseparable fields, which respectively question the relationship of the body-presence to space and time, while seeking to modify our states of perception through physical experience.
His photographic work is associated with a personal artistic approach and research that aims to make visible the manifestation of the invisible in the form of a physical experience. He seeks, through the composition of his images and the intentions at play within them, to create the conditions for an “inner” vision, a kind of backdrop that would transform the “seeing” gaze into a “feeling” gaze.
“My influences aren’t always photographic. I admire contemporary Chinese prints, which can create a world with a few strokes. The texture of the ink is essential because the amount of water dilutes the black and creates a sense of depth. The strength and support of the brush, the trace of the gesture, produce embodied images.” Fabrice Domenet
