The Anthology Film Archives (New York) welcomes on Monday 26 the Czech photographer Josef Koudelka Member of Magnum Photos agency, he will be in discussion with Gilad Baram, director of the documentary Josef Koudelka: Shooting Holy Land which will be screened this night
Koudelka first visited the Holy Land in 1968, surveying both the Israeli and Palestinian territories, in order to understand by the image the reality of this violent conflict. Baram returned with Koudelka to understand how the photographer can look at a territory marked for decades by a violet and insolvent conflict. The confrontation of the film and the photography gives to see a superb dialogue, the images being superbly composed.
The screening is organized by the International Center of Photography (ICP), as part of the 70th birthday of Magnum Photos and the exhibition Magnum Manifesto.
