Changing value judgments and needs of societies and effects of economic crises and immigration movements have all been reflected on space and objects: the houses that we live in, the spaces we work in, the objects, the cars we own… While socio-economic conditions change, they continuously require new arrangements in order to provide solutions to our needs. Otherwise, they will be abandoned without considering whether they keep their structural characteristics or not because their functions will not be needed anymore. The fact that their physical existence is relatively longer than their functions gives them a sense of stability and eternity.
Abandoned spaces and objects, which do not attract that much attention in cities where pace of life is so swift and where spaces are intertwined, remain standing in rural areas as monuments that represent the values of the past and reveal the social, economic, cultural and ethical positions of their users. On the other hand, their inanimation and lifelessness that come from lack of ownership are reflected around and make those places dimmer, just like landscapes from a post-apocalyptic world…
