After mostly covering the war in Syria since 2012, I decided to recenter my work towards a more familiar part of this world: The Orthodox civilization. As it is true I started my career as a war photographer shooting unrest and conflict in the South Caucasus, the events in the Ukraine was a nice way to return to my roots. I decided to cover the unrest in Kiev in January/February, and again decided to return to its Eastern part in April/May to cover the clashes between Pro-Russians, and pro-Kiev forces.
Though I was not surprised at all by the media circus going on there during that time, I was more appalled by the lack of understanding by the Western press who was convinced that Russia was the enemy, and furthermore, that the Western powers were right to intervene. As always the reality on the ground is different from what the general public is being fed by the main-stream media.
