This is the unusual portfolio of the week.
A Strange Beauty, studies from the Denver Museum of Nature & Science collections by John Bonath. He writes.
I am not concerned with making a document of something for science. The assumption that photographic images represent something “true” is the unique nature of photography and can be used to many ends. For me, the camera and the computer become a stage for the performance of an idea. I try to imbue everyday objects with magic, in a place of wonder where anything is possible, and create a story that can be unlocked by the viewer’s imagination. It is my hope that everyone is able to see things in these images that they never before imagined.
