Last April, we published Fragment d’elles by Barbara Sabaté Montoriol. Today, the photographer talks to us about Les 36 vues de la petite mer, which she will be exhibiting on île-aux-moines from July 21 to 31.
ÎL(E)LLES / 36 views of the little sea
36 vues, a nod to the Thirty-Six Views of Mount Fuji by Japanese painter, draughtsman and printmaker Katsushika Hokusai, who established landscape painting as a subject in its own right in the early 19th century, and influenced Western painters in the process.
Petite mer (little sea), meaning the Breton word Mor bihan, the Gulf of Morbihan, this inland sea dotted with islands and islets.
