Since 2010 I shoot daily my close environment, without premeditation, without any kind of prejudge.Urban and human, details and fragments. This work goes from the most futile to the essential.
The city is a living organism, organized on different scales and timelines. Things appear, disappear, or conversely become immobilized. Armed with my iPhone (successively 3Gs, 4s and 6 Plus generations) I subconsciously sensed the ephemeral memory of the city. Still according to the same principle. Each “Clue” is a fragment of history contained in a small square format.
Every picture has its own life, its narrative and photographic quality, time space, its story. But accumulation, the sum of all these “clues”, produce a different story and reveal the city in its plurality, its richness, diversity. “Les Indices d’une Ville” is not to be considered as a classic photo-report nor an exhaustive city’s terrories exploration attempt .
They are the fruit of my subjective view. That of a passenger, a bystander in his own life, stimulated by urban signals, lost in the maze of random paths, marveling at the 1000 and 1 small treasures concealed the City within its walls.
Today “Les Indices d’une Ville” is both a book of stories and a fresco of 150 representative photographs of the wealth of Montreuil to be proposed in the form of random frame from the eyes of passersby. My goal: to make and share “my” Montreuil”.
