Desiring to establish a photographic legitimacy, the YellowKorner galleries are, more and more, calling upon the glories of the past. After Elliott Erwitt and Oliveiro Toscani, they are calling upon Jean-Daniel Lorieux this month. He has also invited three of his peers with a similar aesthetic to exhibit with him.
In conjunction with Fashion Week, which is happening this week in Paris, the YellowKorner galleries are offering a retrospective of the fashion photographer Jean-Daniel Lorieux, who was given a carte-blanche to chose another three contemporary talents: Guillaume Girardot, Nicolas Bets, and John Wright. It is a photographic transference between two generations which are uniting their images in an exhibition paying tribute to feminine beauty and fashion throughout the ages. A unique exhibition, it interweaves the style of each photographer.
Through his pictures, Jean-Daniel Lorieux passionately celebrates woman in all her splendor and subtleties. He is one of the people who knew how to capture the effervescence of the 1970s and 1980s, the golden age of fashion photography. He started at Studio Harcourt and was a member of the Factory (where he worked alongside Andy Warhol), he than worked with the biggest names in the press like Vogue and L’Officiel, and for a number of prestigious ad campaigns with international models. For fashion lovers, this exhibition is a good break between runways shows.
