Made between 2008 and 2013, Isabelle Levistre’s series Anamnèse is a body of work made with a silver process alternative camera . After the book’s release last fall, there is now an exhibition at the Little Big Gallery in Paris.
This series is my view of the world of childhood. I photographed my daughters, their universe, while trying through them to rewrite my own history of which I have few memories. Through their games, their attitudes, I found these buried memories whose traces are few and far between. I rewrote, as a private stroll, the games, the attitudes, and the moments I observed, attentive to only being an observer on the outskirts of a magic and mysterious world. Through the series, a subtle outline of the period between early childhood and preadolescence is drawn. It is a poetic world where lightness, solitude and insouciance mix. To recreate this ephemeral period, I occasionally used double exposures . In this search for memory, the prism is deformed, blurred, oneiric.
