Donna
In 2017 I attended an inter-active expo/dance performance “Timeless Beauty” at the Gallo-Roman Archeological Museum in Tongeren, Belgium. An historic site filled with pre-historic and Roman statues, mixed with photography of the female body by the late Marc Lagrange and female dancers of Company Noi, dancing among statues.
I reached out to Valentina Nigro, the choreographer of the dance company, based in Antwerp and one thing led to another. My love for dance goes back a long way. I had photographed performances in Los Angeles before, but this was a first time to capture rehearsals and I agreed with Valentina to photograph rehearsals of the piece she was working on “DONNA”, an ode to all women.
This is the result. Some of these images were also published in Lens Magazine Summer 2020, issue #70.
