Incarnatio editions, which publish Normal magazine, are releasing Thomas Freyer‘s book, It’s Magdalena.
Born in 1968 in East Germany, Thomas Freyer is an engineer and pharmacist by profession, and a photographer by passion. Already very young, he photographed still lifes and worked in his own darkroom. At the beginning of 2000, a friend introduced him to portrait photography. He then discovered a passion and took the opportunity to photograph the people he worked with and those who fascinated him.
Then he discovered fashion and nude photography which then became his main motivations and the source of his work, without neglecting portrait photography. In 2019, he began his great and constantly evolving collaboration with his muse Magdalena Szczepanska, a Polish model, makeup artist and artistic director.
At the beginning, and after a few sporadic shots, they found together that their work and their creativity took a new, very creative turn. They collaborate continuously, traveling around the world since to capture and seize the places, which serve as a backdrop for their staging, and their narration in order to captivate the spectator through these unusual places.
