Tatjana Patitz passed away yesterday. One of the original Supermodels she was a favorite of Peter Lindbergh who started her career, but also of Herb Ritts, Patrick Demarchelier and many more.
In 1989, Gianfranco Ferre took over Dior after Marc Bohan and I was asked to shoot his portrait and a feature for Paris Match. Ferre chose Tatjana to model one of his first creations for Dior. The common knowledge was that Tatjana was “different” from her peers and indeed she was, her elegance, her poise and serene calm in front the camera were a galaxy away from the excesses of those years.
