June Newton passed away on Friday.
Although Helmut and her didn’t have children, they both leave behind dozens of babies in photography, since rarely had a couple been so passionate about images.
They lived, thought, were photography!
A time in the 70s and 80s June, under the name Alice Springs, tried an independent career then faded into the couple
called Helmut. Several times we have published their work in PHOTO, here are three of those editorials.
My fondest memories of them are those of the rue Aubriot in the 1970s where they took off and the 2000s at Château Marmont in Los Angeles where decades later they continued to be the creators of West Coast phantasms.
