The French National Library (Bibliothèque nationale de France) is devoing an exhibition to Henry de Monfreid (1879-1974), one of the most famous travel writers of the 20th century. Thanks to a donation by his heirs to the Geography Society (Société de Geographie) of an ensemble of archives, letters, diaries, travel logs, stereoscopic photographs, films and sound recordings belonging to the author, over one hundred documents are being displayed in the Donor’s Gallery, portraying his main adventures in the Horn of Africa and the Red Sea.
