In Fall 2018, the Henri Cartier-Bresson Foundation will open a new space. The foundation is currently based in the 14th quarter of Paris. The new space will be located at 79 rue des archives, in Le Marais (3rd quarter).
This central space is designed by the architectural agency Nova. Exhibition space will be doubled compared to the space currently proposed by the Foundation. The new space will replace an old garage and will allow wider exhibitions. Archives of the Foundation will also be better preserved, gathered in the same place. They are currently scattered on three different sites. Access for researches will also be facilitated by the creation of research library, funded by the sale of current location, at impasse Lebouis.
François Hébel, former director of the Rencontres d’Arles and the Magnum agency, has been appointed as director of this new space. He will take care of the day-to-day running and development of the Foundation. His arrival allows director Agnès Sire a better commitment to the programs and the preparation of upcoming exhibitions. François Hébel started his charge today.
