Awarded by the Henri Cartier-Bresson Foundation, the HCB Award is a creative aid that allows a photographer to realize or continue a project that he could not carry out without this support. It is intended for an experienced photographer who has already accomplished significant work of a sensitivity close to documentary. The candidate must be presented by an institution (gallery, museum, publisher, journal or independent curator).
The HCB Award is awarded every two years at the end of June and offers the winner a grant of an indivisible amount of 35,000 euros. The winner is chosen by an international jury made up of seven eminent personalities from the world of the arts.
In spring 2023, the winner’s project produced thanks to this grant will be exhibited at the Fondation HCB in Paris and a book will be published on this occasion.
The Hermès Corporate Foundation is the sponsor of the HCB Award.
