Hans P. Kraus Jr. Fine Photographs presents Artists’ Studies: Photographs Made for Painters by Vallou de Villeneuve and Others. The exhibition includes works by Julien Vallou de Villeneuve, Félix-Jacques Antoine Moulin, Bruno Braquehais, Sydney Richard Percy, Gustave Le Gray, and others. A number of important works by Vallou are featured, including a standing nude Courbet used as the source for his muse in “L’Atelier du Peintre” in the Musée d’Orsay.
The exhibition opens on 31 January, in conjunction with Master Drawings New York, and runs until 30 April 2025.
