Halogénure #3: three pro pamphlets in the service of new photography

Preview

Halogénure is a one-of-a-kind, Belgian print magazine in three pamphlets which wanders off the beaten track in contemporary photography, offering original auteur photography in a format that prioritizes the image. Building on the success of the first two issues, the third, just fresh off the press, presents an even more insightful perspective on the world of photography.

Pamphlet 03A: Experimentation

The first pamphlet brings together the work of three photographers: Thomas Goset, Alfons Alt, Rafael Tanaka Monzó, and a professional fine art printer, Grégoire Oustry. Halogénure explores the issues of experimentation in photography, of possible dialog between the history of painting and the photographic medium, as well as the fundamental relationship between photography and printing. Each artist in his own way pushes the photographic technique to a breaking point, testing the limits of the territory of the image, which they draw on as a source of powerful visions.

Pamphlet 03B: Belgian photography

The must-have Belgian pamphlet features in this issue Jean Marc Chapa and Katjlin Blanchaert who follow the meanders of unusual, oneiric photography: a somber, poetic fissure in the Belgian time-space continuum.

Pamphlet 03C: Cyanotype

The third pamphlet is devoted entirely to the practice of the cyanotype. Using various contemporary approaches, it shows how this historical process, perfected in 1842, has remained relevant in the twenty-first century. This is done not through a catalog of passé gestures, but rather in a genuine desire to experience modernity through photography by experimenting with iron salts.

The third issue of Halogénure features photography by Thomas Valere Goset, Rafael Tanaka Monzó, Alfons Alt, Jean-Marc Chapa, Katjlin Blanchaert, Davy Jourget, Emmanuel Ferrand, Irène de Groot, Rémi Guerrin, with contributions by Annakarin Quinto, Sabrina Biancuzzi, Grégoire Oustry, and Pierre Audebert.

Designed as an independent, ad-free publication, the magazine Halogénure relies on readers’ pre-orders and subscriptions.
