The third edition of Gazebook is held this weekend in Sicily, in the city of Punta Secca. Thought as a festival for photographic books, it was founded in 2015 by Melissa Carnemolla, Teresa Bellina and Simone Sapienza. The event brings together publishers, photographers, authors and critics around the photographic book. Conferences, lectures and meetings are organized.
In three years, Gazebook has become a remarkable event in the world of photography, with its light, benevolent and sunny frame. In particular, this Saturday, a meeting with Matthieu Asselin, discovered in Arles with his photographic survey on the Monsanto agro-chemical firm and the environmental and human misdeeds of his productions. The curator Issa Touma will come later to talk about his trade and his exhibitions. Finally this evening, a projection of photobook is organized, followed by an evening on the beach.
Tomorrow, the festivities will resume with, among others, a projection of the emerging talents of photography selected by the magazine LensCulture. Of course, exhibitions are also to be seen, including Clothbound by Leila Fatimi or The Iceberg by Giorgio Di Noto.
