I photograph things that seem to have a particular silence around them. The subjects might be considered common objects or ordinary scenes but for me they are completely mysterious and unrepeatable. I have tried to make these images not immediately obvious to the viewer but not wholly unfathomable either.
The photographs pose questions rather than make conclusions.
Gary Haigh
Gary Haigh is a South Australian photographer who has exhibited in diverse venues at home and overseas. He has a long and loving involvement with light. He commenced photography while working in a scientific establishment, where he made and tested optical components and was fascinated by the relationship between image, lens, and the darkroom experience.
His work has appeared in “WetInk”, an Australian journal for new writing and “Etchings”, an international literary periodical, and in Boxcar Poetry, an online poetry magazine.
He draws inspiration from many sources particularly certain aspects of Eastern literature, the works of Japanese photographers, and contemporary and classical music.
