Galerie Thierry Marlat presents from June 4th the exhibition Quatre Saisons Photographiques – Black & White XIX-XXI, with works by Alexey BRODOVITCH, Charles JONES, Valérie KNIGHT, Robert MAPPLETHORPE and Albert RENGER-PATZSCH.
From daguerreotype to digital image, photography is almost 200 years old. This now long history has known its upheavals, its visionary artists, sorts of fruitful influencers capable of bringing about revolutions in the arts and in visions. In photography finally, everything goes very quickly. And this dynamic is certainly what gives art photography a unique and strong place in the world of contemporary art.
To take stock of this short but dense photographic epic, the exhibition QUATRE SAISONS PHOTOGRAPHIQUES brings together 4 key moments in the evolution of art photography and 5 fertile photographers around the still life art photography in black and white.
