The galerie Liehrmann in Liége presents Photographies Subaquatiques by Harry Fayt, an immersion in the universe of the Belgian underwater photographer;
He introduces himself as follows: “Very curious by nature, inspiration comes to me from everywhere.
From an object found at a flea market, a news story, an image, a scene in the street, my mind proceeds as it does with a puzzle.
Different elements come together to create an unexpected concept, most often eccentric but always coherent.
Refusing the “it can’t be done”, I like to think as a free spirit without conforming to a certain vision of society.
Harry Fayt
In April 2022, Harry Fayt was selected by WBI (Wallonia – Brussels – International) to represent Wallonia during a traveling exhibition that will tour the world for five years. From New York to Tokyo, from Beijing to Kinshasa, dozens of capitals will soon discover his work.
After his first 500 copies monograph published in 2019 on the theme of the nude, the photographer is taking advantage of this cycle of exhibitions to publish his second work “MODERN ICONS and other subaquatic dreams” which presents, among other things, his “Modern Icons” series and his diversions of art and “Heart Made in Belgium”, his immersed portraits of Belgian artists.
Nourished by Belgian surrealism, he gives birth to unique, dense, intense and committed works. The art of staging fascinates him. With intelligence and humour, he uses, like a magician, many subterfuges to plunge us into a fantastic universe. It reveals personalities, revisits artistic masterpieces, questions society.
