It’s a book and an exhibition: Pavot by Inès Dieleman.
Jean Santilli presents it as follows:
Photographing flowers might seem trivial at first glance. However, Inès Dieleman’s singular photographic writing delivered a completely different message.
The gaze of the photographer goes beyond the first degree. In her book Poppy, she takes us into a world of outdated Polaroids in flesh and silk tones: close-ups of petals, stamens and stems; whirlwind of desire, sex, voluptuousness.
Elusive fissures, vulnerable fragility and yet the expectation of what is yet to come. Each image of Inès Dieleman tells us about the astonishing magic of life and the power of freedom.
We expected still lifes, we discover an intimate vision part of life: ageless eroticism.
“Each flower gave way, from every angle, gave away, at every distance, its beauty, its interiority. Blurry, sharp, luminous, in the shadows… We look and we see, without really knowing why, Goya, Courbet… Then we finally understand: the bees and the butterflies, hungry vampires and happy lovers.”
