The Fotoprize aims to help young and talented artists to gain exposure by offering them the possibility to present their work at an international photography art fair facilitating thus their first steps into the art market.
This year, the winner is Laure Fauvel.
” Laure Fauvel with her series “Cévennes” offers us a sensible and poetic view very close to the ’emotion of existence’ .
Without psychologisation she gets involved by her simple presence in the world. A delicateness outflows from this slowly kinetic series with warm colours.
The scene starts with a still life and ends with a nude that will soon be leaving the scene. “
Philippe Assali
” Through the succession of images with increased polysemy. the photographer Laure Fauvel explores in her series Cévennes numerous themes: from still life, to portraits of young ladies wearing a sullen look waiting in impersonal interior irradiated by a light ray.
The prism is wide: the audience is just like suspended without gravity, floating in the air like that veil, or asking themselves if they are going to be swept away by this brush of the photographer, who did not say her last word.
The proof: she has been rewarded by fotoprize 2014. “
