Steve Sabella, a Berlin-based artist who uses photography and photographic installation as his principle modes of expression, was born in Jerusalem in 1975. He studied photography at the School of Photography and New Media, Jerusalem, in 1994, and he holds a B.A. in visual arts from the State University of New York, Empire State College ; a M.A. in photographic studies with distinction from the University of Westminster, U.K.; and a M.A. in art business from Sotheby’s Institute of Art in London. He was one of the artists commissioned for Sajjil: A Century of Modern Art (2010), the inaugural exhibition of Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art, Doha, Qatar, where he presented his installation Settlement – Six Israelis & One Palestinian.

A retrospective, Steve Sabella in Exile (2010), was shown at Metroquadro Arte Contemporanea, Rivoli/Turin, Italy, and the solo exhibition Euphoria & Beyond (2011) was presented at The Empty Quarter Gallery, Dubai He received the Ellen Auerbach Award, a development scholarship for young international photographers, in 2008 from the Akademie der Künste in Berlin.
