The exhibition PAROLES D’HOMMES presents seventy portraits of men of all ages photographed in different cities, accompanied by their words, to join with women in defending a society that is egalitarian, respectful, fair and free of violence.
Each comment opens the door to reflection and debate on subjects such as virility, domination, power, power, gender discrimination, equal rights, education… and calls into question our individual and collective postures, our mass certainties by inviting us to leave behind the foundations of violence and patriarchy.
Programme
3pm: Conference with Fred ROBERT, co-founder and spokesman – with Gérard Biard, editor-in-chief of Charlie hebdo – of the Zéromacho association, the first international network of men against the pimping system and for gender equality. Zéromacho takes action by taking part in demonstrations and public debates, distributing open letters, producing video spots and cooperating with associations defending women who are victims of violence.
4.30pm: presentation of the ‘Paroles d’hommes’ exhibition, designed by the association UniesVers’Elles and produced by photographer Joëlle DOLLÉ.
Joëlle Dollé
Joëlle Dollé has lived and worked in Burgundy since 2020, having previously lived in Paris. After working as an art director in advertising agencies for ten years, she decided in 1995 to devote herself to her passion, photography, in order to turn her artistic eye to subjects that are close to her heart.
Through her portraits and her work on identity, she tackles social issues and takes a different look at ourselves, our relationship with others and with nature. Her pared-down style tries to get to the heart of the matter.
Her work is regularly exhibited: Portrait gallery ‘Nous sommes tous des personnalités’ for cities, ‘Les jumeaux’, ‘SAS AFDAEIM’ on disability, ‘Positif ou négatif’ presented by AIDES, ‘Des Légumes et des Hommes’ with the City of Paris and the Potager du Roi in Versailles, ‘La Vie des Fleurs’, ‘Mon corps, Ma vie, Ma planète’…
‘I’d been trying to find a way of working for women for a few years, but it was my encounter with Uniesvers’Elles that finally led me to photograph men!
Women’s struggle can be endless if men don’t take action. There’s an urgent need for each of us to rediscover our feminine and masculine side, the balance that allows us to be truly human.
I was very touched that men were mobilising, speaking out and exposing themselves. I felt that this opened up something gentle, restorative and constructive. This exhibition, which brings together men from different backgrounds, is a first step towards breaking down barriers and opening up the debate on the foundations of all forms of violence.
