The 57th International Photography Fair of Bièvres is back!
The Photoclub Paris Val-de-Bièvre, with the support of the commune of Bièvres, is organizing the 57th International Photo Fair where photography enthusiasts and collectors of photographic equipment will meet.
Approximately 150 exhibitors are expected at the second-hand and antique photographic market; they will capture the attention of visitors with the diversity of the items on offer and their expert advice. Exceptional objects from the 19th century, vintage or more recent, equipment no longer available on the market, you will find everything at the Fair, from magic lanterns to silver reflex cameras. The price range is as wide as the choice and the quality
The Fair lives with its time. The new market presents the latest models at very attractive prices. People come not only to discover them but also to be guided by image specialists who give advice and offer to test the new products. The services section includes services such as the sale of printers, photographic trips or products necessary for silver and old processes.
Les Rencontres de Bièvres are conferences about photography from the point of view of practice, technique, travel and equipment. Well-known photographers such as Thomas Vollaire, Eric Delamarre, Agathe Poupeney will participate as well as Photographes du Monde or Parisgraphie.
A round table, animated by Gérald Vidamment, will be organized by Compétence Photo and the Prix HIP. The Bièvres Town Hall will highlight the work of French photographer Claudine Doury, guest of honor of the Fair, she will succeed Denis Bourges, Olivier Culmann, Isabel Muñoz, Claude and John Batho, Jane Evelyn Atwood.
Member of the Agence Vu and represented by the Galerie In Camera, Claudine Doury lives and works in Paris. Her photographic exploration addresses the notions of memory, transition and passage, particularly around adolescence and travel, her favorite themes. She has published six monographs and held numerous solo and group exhibitions. In Bièvres, two exhibitions of her series will be presented: Sasha and Loulan Beauty.
In Sasha, she paints a portrait of a teenager. Between dream and reality, she captures this complex passage from the world of childhood to that of adulthood with great delicacy. Loulan Beauty describes the slow disappearance of a world, in the sands and in time, a journey through post-Soviet Central Asia and Chinese Xinjiang.
The artists’ market, organized on Sundays during the Fair, is open to professionals and amateurs, individually or collectively, it brings visibility and recognition that can be an excellent springboard for the future.
Nathalie Bocher-Lenoir, president of Gens d’images and delegate of the Niépce Prize, will preside over the jury that she will have set up. This jury will visit each stand of the artists’ market and, after deliberation, will determine the winner of the Jean and André Fage Grand Prize. It will award 5 other prizes, including the young photographer prize and another prize for work in film or old processes. All these prizes are generously endowed by the Fair’s partners.
The Fair also offers many activities: ephemeral studio set up (on Sunday) by the Photoclub Paris-Val-de-Bièvre, portfolio readings…
