The Fondation Carmignac, CatchLight and Dysturb present the second edition of Nuit du Photojournalisme on Saturday, November 9, 2024 in Paris, as part of the PhotoSaintGermain festival.
Conversations and screenings will revolve around four themes:
the State of the Union
Exploring the state of democracies around the world in a year when 64 countries will be holding elections. Photographic essays and discussions will focus on voters’ rights, the rise of nationalism and the role of journalism in holding governments accountable in this crucial election year, against a backdrop of shrinking industry resources and evolving approaches to photojournalism.
Women
An international look at the state of women’s rights: from access to education and economic opportunities to healthcare, equal pay and reproductive rights.
Places and Environment
A visual exploration of the impact of climate change on the planet, highlighting rising sea levels, melting ice caps and changing weather patterns. The images bring to life the data collected by scientists, explain the impact of climate change on human life and highlight the beauty of life on earth.
Win
A reflection on the spirit of competition and teamwork, with photo essays inspired by recent Olympic Games and sporting feats around the world.
