Henry Kenyon believes many of our most potent memories of travel come not from where we were destined for but what we saw as the world changed as we travelled. Pourquoi suis-je Londinien et toi un Parisien? is an exhibition expressing this everyday experience.
“I have always been fascinated with similarities, themes and coincidences. In London and Paris, two cities with different histories and futures, there are similarities we probably have ignored” Henry explains.
Pourquoi suis-je Londinien et toi un Parisien? is a slice of his street photography, shot on film, across London and Paris over the last 9 months.
He criss-crosses London, a city he describes as “the richest possible environment for photography”, multiple times a day by bicycle.
Here he sees the vulnerable and the lonely, the bizarre and the humdrum, the moments of joy and of desolation.
In Paris, on foot, he has done the same.
It opens on Monday 14 October 2019 at Le Studio, 38-40 Rue de la Victoire, 75009 Paris, and runs until 26 October 2019.
