The Planches Contact festival opens its fifteenth edition from October 19, 2024, to January 5, 2025. Like the previous years, the festival held in Deauville will propose to the public various and well-conceived workshops.
WORKSHOPS
JULIEN MIGNOT: The Distance to One’s Subject
Explore the essential notion of distance in photography
Regardless of the photographer’s practice—documentary, black-and-white portraiture, reportage, street, or nude photography—they seek the right distance, the one that brings coherence to what they describe and shapes their style and signature.
Julien Mignot’s signature is finding this notion of distance across every field of photography he has explored.
During this workshop, participants will delve into the essential concept underpinning this crucial aspect. Simply put, this workshop is for everyone, regardless of their practice or skill level. From shooting to technique, through retouching and editing, the focus will be on listening to everyone and working collectively on a custom basis.
🗓️ Friday, September 27 to Sunday, September 29, Les Franciscaines, 10:30 AM – 6:30 PM
💶 Fee: €300 / 3 days / Under 26: €250
ÉRIC BOUVET: Sharing and Enjoying Photography
Spend three days with photographer Éric Bouvet, discussing photography and enhancing your practice.
This workshop is about sharing, and the pleasure of photography, whether during shooting, editing, or looking at the work of masters and Bouvet’s own reportage. It’s always intense with me because I do everything to push people higher during these days. Positivity, as photography, even though it sometimes makes us suffer because it is hard to satisfy ourselves, is above all a search for oneself and the world around us. Good humor and focus required. A return to basics to better utilize equipment, but more importantly, to maximize the eye’s potential.
🗓️ Friday, November 22 to Sunday, November 24, Les Franciscaines, 10:30 AM – 6:30 PM
💶 Fee: €300 / 3 days / Under 26: €250
JEAN-CHRISTOPHE BÉCHET: Street Photography – Portrait of a City
Jean-Christophe Béchet will guide participants through the streets of Deauville, teaching techniques and tips for capturing the essence of a city.
Renowned for his explorations of urban and rural photography, Jean-Christophe Béchet will share his in-depth knowledge of composition, using natural light, and interacting with subjects to create portraits of cities and their inhabitants. By exploring various neighborhoods and urban scenes, participants will be encouraged to develop their own style and see the city from a new angle.
🗓️ Friday, December 13 to Sunday, December 15, Les Franciscaines, 10:30 AM – 6:30 PM
