Emblematic of the architecture of the 1950s, the OZO Bellevue service station was abandoned for a long time. Completely renovated by the Nostal’10 association, in 2025 it will host its very first exhibition: “Cars are red”, by Juliane Goustard.
Station Ozo, an unusual place
Built in 1955, the OZO Bellevue service station features architecture inspired by American service stations of the time, with an 11-metre high spire designed by architect Paul Lagneau. After some thirty years in business, it closed for the first time in 1982, due to the decline in traffic on the Nationale 10, which was replaced by the recently created A10 motorway. The service station then became a used car sales office, before closing for good at the end of the 1990s. Left derelict for almost 20 years, it is now attracting renewed interest and in 2016 was awarded the ‘Patrimoine du XXème siècle’ (20th Century Heritage) label by the French Ministry of Culture. In 2021, renovation work began on the station, led by volunteers from the Nostal’10 association, which works to preserve the heritage and memory of the former Nationale 10. After around three years of work, Station Ozo will be restored to its former glory in 2024. After several events and gatherings of vintage vehicles organised by the Nostal’10 association, Station Ozo will host its very first exhibition in March 2025.
A station that becomes an exhibition space
Linking automotive heritage and art: Juliane Goustard’s series of photographs Les voitures sont rouges will inaugurate this new function for the venue. A series of photographs in the form of a personal exploration of the symbol of the red car. The cars are sometimes racing cars, sometimes a little outdated, witnesses of another era; all linked by their red colour. ‘Give a child a sheet of paper, some coloured pencils and ask him to draw a car, and he’ll probably colour it red’, Enzo Ferrari.
