Photography Festival Le Pré Saint Gervais – Escale Photo 2024

The next edition of Escale Photo 2024, a photo festival organized in Le Pré Saint-Gervais (93), will take place from April 27 to May 21. The theme of this year’s event is “Faire corps”.

This year, 8 professional photographers will be exhibiting in 8 locations. Numerous workshops are planned, including introductory workshops in silver and cyanotype photography for local audiences (Est Ensemble, Seine Saint-Denis).

Every two years, the Escale Photo festival showcases photography at Le Pré Saint-Gervais.
Now in its eleventh year, the Escale Photo festival stretches across the city, from the 193 to La Rutile Galerie, via the François Mitterrand municipal library and Le Préau restaurant, not forgetting La P’tite Criée, the heart of this visual promenade. Under the theme of Faire corps, the festival presents the work of 8 professional photographers and collectives, indoors and outdoors.

In partnership with Le 193, the tour showcases social, graphic and sensitive photography: making bodies by showing the relationships that are forged, with oneself, with others, with the world around us, making bodies in an intimate or collective way to speak of heritage or memory.

Exhibitions

In black and white or color, photography captures the body in all its states. In Saint-Ouen, bodies become one with a mythical soccer stadium (Red Star FC, Jérémy Piot); in Balaruc-les-Bains, they bask in the sun (Balaruc, retraite dorée, Yann Castanier); in India, they reveal themselves, captured on the spot as they pass through streets and encounters (Figures out, Antoine Vaton); on the roads, the body disappears to let us feel its movement (Paysage en mouvement, Gil Rigoulet). In the intimacy of a bedroom, the body disappears when it’s a grandfather (La Chambre à moitié vide, Chloé Signès) or, on the contrary, reveals itself in delicate fragments (Corps à corps, Vic Orth). The body, finally, expresses itself through smiles of pride (Les Petits Prodiges) or in the street to awaken the world (Habiller les voix nues, Collectif item).
