Akinbode Akinbiyi discusses a recent project addressing the impact of COVID-19 on the urban landscape in Germany, situating this project within his ongoing practice, including works in the Philadelphia Museum of Art’s collection.
Akinbode Akinbiyi was born in Oxford, England of Nigerian parents and has been a freelance photographer since 1977. Akinbiyi’s primary photographic focus attempts to understand and deeply engage with the modern city. The work is open-ended and driven by a desire to dive deeply into the meaning and subjectivity of the everyday. Akinbiyi lives in and works out of Berlin.
