“L’attente” by Julie Coustarot, Finalist of the Fashion Talent Scholarship in September 2017, is exhibiting at Atelier Jime until April 27th as part of the Month of the Photo Off in Paris.
“The series” L’attente “by Julie Coustarot, born in three tenses from 2017 to 2019, sketches a sensitive and poetic look, in which uncertainty, boredom, fear and desire come together and unravel.
If waiting is an impossible access to the pure happiness of the moment, the series questions what it digs in us. In this innocent form of boredom, the three sisters, like the Moirai of Greek mythology, appear to us light, sweet, intriguing … to make us almost forget that they hold in their hands the thread of life.
The three, symbol of the perfect number, associated with childbirth and birth, eclipses and gives way to a darker and more disturbing atmosphere. No more doubts here, the game has stopped, “all frames crack” *; waiting gnaws at desire, the painful presage of a nebulous future is emerging. Then begins this wild, solitary and invisible struggle, to drive out the waiting in turn making it visible to the outside world, in a hope of reconciliation.
If it was believed until then elusive and ineluctable, the waiting slowly fades, fragmented into small imperceptible traces. It is not forgotten, simply remaining a passing state, a curve on the timeline. ”
