Before immersing into photography, Etienne Boisrond spent a good many years in advertising, much around the globe. That led him to work with some of the most reknowned signatures in the industry, such as Annie Leibovitz, Ridley Scott, Jean-Paul Goude, among others…He has kept a fascination for the imaginary power of photographs, and their capacity to portray the world differently.
He first investigated documentary photography, on various series, in the footsteps of a Depardon. Among others, he spent two years photographing the entire population of a village in Correze, which led him to his first solo show, with the 400 portraits he had done.
Since then, Etienne Works on a more pared-down, sketched, almost symbolic photography . A frugal photography in a way, perhaps the influence of his years spent in Japan. Suggest, rather show. A fugitive impact, a trace, like a remanence in your eye. Say more by showing less. Reminiscent of some architecture sketches, three lines, and it’s all there…
