A selection of recent photographs from the series titled “INscapes” by Emmanuelle Becker will be on display from November 6th to 12th, 2023, at 28 Rue Saint-Gilles, 75003 Paris. This collection of enigmatic, dreamlike landscapes blends elements of both reality and imagination.
Emmanuelle Becker’s artistic journey is an inner voyage in which the artist examines the subjectivity of memory and how it blurs the boundaries between reality and imagination. Velvety textures, colors softened by the passage of time, ink stains, and stereographic cut-outs are all techniques, gestures, and even metaphors employed by the artist to convey the essence and matter of memory. Emmanuelle Becker draws on her multi-faceted artistic training and uses this know-how to create a highly personal aesthetic. As she herself expresses, “In landscape photography, meaning lies less in the sites themselves than in the emotions they arouse and their connections to our lives.” However, if Becker’s work is the fruit of an inner journey, her photographs evoke a shared experience that transcends the visual realm to touch the viewer’s soul.
