5 days of immersion in the Cazenac estate, located in the Périgord Noir in the small village of Coux et Bigaroque, halfway between Bergerac and Sarlat. We’ll be photographing and staying on site, in the heart of the château de Cazenac, which dates from the 14th and 16th centuries and overlooks the Dordogne valley.
Equipped with digital and film labs, this location will enable us to develop a personal approach to photography, focusing on revealing the ‘spirit of a place’. All the shots will be taken either in the château, its outbuildings or in the surrounding countryside.
The challenge for the students will be to create a small artistic and personal series of 6 to 8 photos of this magical place. And the originality of this five-day course will also be the part devoted to prints, with the possibility of learning about black & white silver prints for those who bring a silver camera and some monochromatic film.
Emphasis will also be placed on editing methods and portfolio reading.
In the end, three photos per trainee will be printed in 30×40 cm format and given to the trainees. For its part, Château de Cazenac will select one photo per trainee and exhibit it on its walls for one year, offering the possibility of selling the print (the Château hosts seminars and weddings throughout the year).
Lunch and dinner will be taken together, providing an opportunity for exchange and discussion.
The Domaine de Cazenac: a place for self-discovery!
An exceptional 25-hectare site, nestling in the heart of the Dordogne valley in the Périgord Noir.
The Domaine is located in south-west France, in a picturesque little village halfway between Sarlat and Bergerac.
From its terrace, the view is breathtaking, and the panorama of its verdant landscapes and fertile land is always inspiring.
Through its architecture, we can read the history of the different centuries it has passed through; from the 14th to the 18th century, between medieval times and the Renaissance, time seems to stand still.
The estate has been completely renovated, with an eye for detail and comfort that plunges us into the spirit of the greatest French residences.
For each artistic activity, Cazenac has selected the best equipment and made it available to participants. For photography, for example, a laboratory for digital and silver prints has been specially fitted out.
