“The State of the World”: PX3’s new special contest.
In a new twist, PX3 is simultaneously launching “The State of the World”, a new special contest of Paris Photo Prize, dedicated to sharing important global stories focusing on issues that are current and crucial in our world.
Speaking about this new competition, PX3’s founder, Hossein Farmani, commented, “The State of the World” is especially important at this time in our history, when we have faster access to information than any previous generation, yet it is harder than ever for us to discover the truth. Visual story telling is so crucial to our understanding of the world around us and “The State of the World” will show eyewitness accounts and uncensored news directly from photographers witnessing events, with the guarantee that they are not manipulated by the mainstream media or sensationalized for profit.”
Adding his immense influence and globally award-winning talent and experience to this contest is photography legend and Lucie Award Honoree Steve McCurry who joins “State of the World” as Head Juror.
Steve McCurry photographic work has focused on war and its consequences, and over the course of his stellar career he has covered numerous international and civil conflicts, including the Iran-Iraq War, Beirut, Cambodia, the Philippines, the Gulf War and the continuing strife in Afghanistan, often risking his life to capture his images from the front lines.
