The 26th edition of Art Paris 2024 will be held from April 4 to 7 at the Grand Palais Éphémère.
135 modern and contemporary art galleries from 25 countries will be present for the occasion.
Art Paris 2024 will feature two themes: Fragile Utopias and Art & Craft, curated by Éric de Chassey and Nicolas Trembley respectively. The Promises for Young Galleries and Solo Show sectors explore new talents and revisit historic figures to be rediscovered. In 2024, Art Paris is further committed to supporting the French art scene by launching the Prix BNP Paribas Banque Privée with BNP Paribas Banque Privée, the fair’s official premium partner. A look at the French scene, with an endowment of 30,000 euros.
Fragile utopias.
A look at the French scene by Éric de Chassey
Éric de Chassey, Director General of the Institut national d’histoire de l’art, professor at the École normale supérieure de Lyon and curator, presents his vision of the French art scene through a selection of 20 artists from participating galleries on the theme Fragiles utopies. As Éric de Chassey, who will write a text presenting the work of each selected artist, points out, “The visual arts are not just about representation or decoration. They also propose models for perception, thought and action: utopias under construction. These can be embodied in all forms and mediums, but in a period marked by doubt and the end of great systems, they often take on a provisional, precarious character: they are fragile utopias.”

Art & Craft
by Nicolas Trembley
Entrusted to Nicolas Trembley, art critic and independent curator, the Art & Craft theme, which borrows its title from the pioneering Arts and Crafts movement born in the UK at the end of the 19th century, addresses the way in which both modern and contemporary artists have invested and continue to invest the field of craft skills (ceramics, glass, tapestry etc.), linking gesture to thought. A selection of some twenty international artists was made from among the participating galleries, leading to a thematic tour of the fair and the writing of a text presenting the work of each artist selected.
According to Nicolas Trembley, “At the beginning of the 20th century, the visual arts included practices affiliated with the applied arts, but the emergence of a more conceptual contemporary art has to some extent dethroned these historical processes. Since the beginning of the twenty-first century, with the development of a more globalized art emphasizing minority uses or groups, we have witnessed the emergence of works whose techniques are traditionally linked to those of craftsmanship, just as we are rediscovering works by both historical and contemporary artists whose processes borrow from artisans.”
