As part of the Off des Rencontres de la photographie de Arles 2024, L’ANGLE gallery presents two exhibitions.
Distant Memories, by Philippe Durand Gerzaguet:
“The heart is in memory, it lives by feeding on images”, writes Haruki Murakami, whose quotations accompany the “Distant Memories” series, evoking the reality of buried, partially erased memories, and photography’s ability to revive, or even reinvent them. Through the juxtaposition and accumulation of images, often blurred or imprecise, partial memories rise to the surface, stories are formed. The variety of printing techniques evokes the diverse textures that memories and dreams take on. The use of self-made and Japanese papers reflects the imprecision and poetry of these evocations.
Il n’y a pas de planète B, by David Tatin:
The admirable accident that is life on Earth should be our first source of wonder. To look into the heart of the universe, we can look modestly at our everyday environment and recognize everything that makes up these fantasized confines. “There is no Planet B” is a wake-up call. But it’s also a powerful incentive to take care of the only place where life flourishes. This series of photographs is made up of four sets, plus a sample of the author’s handwritten field notebooks, drawn from his observations of nature over three decades.
