For the past 10 years, the expert Christophe Gœury and the photography department at Etude Millon have held a series of auctions, “Collections & Propositions,” featuring a wide selection of photographs from the early days of the medium through the 1960s. For the latest auction, the photographs range from contemporary work to the 19th century.
Highlights from the May 13th sale include:
–One of the first paper prints by Gustave de Beaucorps (1828-1906) depicting the windmills of Montmartre
–A rare Gustave Le Gray photograph of Paris c. 1857
–A album by Luigi Pesce (1818-1891)
–A Talleyrand-Périgord family album by Eugène Disderi and others
–A set of 95 calling cards of artistic figures from the Second Empire, including E. Delacroix, E. Manet, Ch. Baudelaire, and V. Hugo
–The Baron Beyens Collection of Brussels with work by Cecil Beaton, Edward Weston, Helmut Newton, Joel Meyerowitz, Lucien Clergue, Jeanloup Sieff
–12 prints by Pierre Molinier, including 6 photomontages
–Aernout Overbeeke’s portraits of artists from the CoBrA art movement, some of which are autographed.
