The exhibition Inverso, currently on view in Neuchâtel, Switzerland, seems to keep away from any narrative intent, to nourish an absolute desire to recount. The entirety of the contemplation takes all its meaning from the three artists comprising the exhibition: sculptor Christian Gonzenbach, multimedia artist Uwe Wittwer, and photographer Éric Poitevin. They model a universe where it is not about reproducing a visible reality, but rather the memory of a perception. Contrary to the status quo, Christian Gonzenbach’s busts appear to withdraw into an ultimate tension, Uwe Wittwer’s watercolors subtly emit brilliant sunshine which seems to belong only to the nights of our imagination, and, in a mortal vertigo, Éric Poitevin attempts to retrieve a freedom now lost. Deer, birds, human or vegetable flesh take their place at the center of a composition devoted to austerity. Absence of the superfluous suspends the gaze to a sort of tenuous palpitation.
