Elsa Leydier’s Like a Thunderstorm Over a Landscape is an exploration of the San Francisco Bay Area’s visual representations: from the scenes we document and transmit, to others which we’d prefer not to show. Here, Leydier undermines touristic perspectives and postcard-like views, while unveiling and enhancing the stories, people, and places often overlooked in a city’s dominant narrative.
This work is an invitation to find new and different ways of looking at places, and to resist the poverty of imposed representations.
