The fashion photographer Elias Wessel exhibited a series at the ADC Gallery featuring Amanda Lepore, a New York nightlife icon and former muse to David LaChappelle. After meeting during Fashion Week in 2011, the American transexual agreed to appear in the extravagant stagings imagined by the German photographer at the trendy Jane Hotel. Surrealist, playful and a little sarcastic, “There Must Be More To Life looks with an ironic and critical eye at our permanent struggle with expectations and search for acceptance, both our own and society’s,” says Wessel. The images are colorful, the atmosphere is subdued, and the decor is cozy in the modern style that Elias Wessel has adopted in his work for Vogue and W magazine.
