This weekend we faced the biggest connection peaks in the history of the site: in the space of 48 hours, there were more visits than in a whole year!
The reason ? Articles that made the buzz on Google News in the United States and in France. It was not hacking as some may have believed but too much success that our server – even after having been pumped up 2 weeks ago – could not absorb.
We are therefore currently working on setting up automated technical solutions to prevent this type of slowdown or blockage linked to server overload.
At the same time, we contacted the Google teams to better anticipate and control these “overloads” (often linked to articles containing artistic nudes).
Following these unprecedented connection peaks, we are going to add new optimizations to the site that will ultimately make your browsing experience smoother. And in order to satisfy our subscribers, we will soon deploy features to bookmark your favorite articles in your personal “My account” area.
