10 years ! The Eye of Photography will blow 10 birthday candles. 10 years of joys, difficult challenges, enthusiasm, trial and error, meetings and adventures.
It was not plain sailing. But today the results are superb. Our journal is the leading international magazine on photographic art in the world. 550,000 unique visitors read us every month, five times more than five years ago, when we implemented a new economic model.
All this, thanks to a fantastic editorial team, the same for the last 5 years, to our global network of correspondents and above all, to you readers. Your subscriptions give us independence and freedom of tone that have become rare in our media landscape. Your messages and daily support delight us and confirm that we have succeeded in creating a real community. Thank you for the pleasure that you give us every day: tirelessly seeking to nourish our shared passion for photography!
After more than 5 years at the same prices, monthly and annual subscriptions will increase for new subscribers: 8 euros per month, or 79 euros per year. This increase does not concern current subscribers (subscribers until November 9, 2023). For our daily readers who are still hesitant, now is the time to subscribe to the newspaper to have the benefit of the old rates until November 9th!
This increase is of course explained by the inflation that we have all had to face for several months, but also by our concern to maintain our independence, the need to recruit new talents, and the desire to develop international editorial projects, that require funding. In 2024, all our efforts will focus on editorial. We want to make our journal more specialized, richer, more varied by exploring themes covered in depth.
In ten years, we have launched several adventures. Recently, the two sections “Favorites” and the “Bar” have not met with the expected success. They will disappear, in favor of a weekly column on film photography (“L’Oeil argentique”). As you do so often, continue to share with us your feelings, what you would like to read in our pages, do tell us which areas seem neglected, unexplored, or on the contrary too often discussed.
And let’s keep in mind the greatest compliment you give us: “Every morning: I have my coffee with L’Œil de la Photographie”.
Jean-Jacques Naudet, founder and director of L’Œil de la Photographie.
