The exhibition showcases fifteen Belgian and international photographers, renowned and emerging, gathered around the theme of the polysemic of the Dream. It also unfolds around a cabinet of curiosities.
Dreaming … Surely the first and the last human rights on earth … Perhaps the first and the last reflex of the eye, when it must open to the intransigent reality of the world …
If it has always been (without always coming out victorious) linked to the real, to the visible and the tangible, with a hypothetical truth of the facts, photography has also nourished since its origins privileged links with fantasy and imaginary, with reverie or delirium, with tiny illusions or overwhelming aspirations. Far from being a purveyor of reality, photography gives us the opportunity to grasp it in a new way.
Authors’ images along the route of the exhibition remind us that photographing remains one of the best ways to keep your feet on the ground – while having your head in the air, high up if necessary, higher if one can.
The exhibition is an adaptation of the 8th edition of the Condroz Photography Biennial presented in 2017.
Through its works of humanity, this event, proposed by the Cultural Center Marchin (Be), inaugurated in 2003 and whose quality was highlighted by the Belgian press, aims to promote photographic artistic creation around a universal theme.
In an area that stands out for its magnificent natural, architectural and historical heritage, it also seeks to make auteur photography accessible to large audiences that are not specifically initiated.
