Keep Moving Still is the aptly named title of a photographic exhibition currently on display at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital, Exeter, until 31st August 2017. The exhibition brings together the work of five accomplished Devon photographers, all of whom have been awarded distinctions from the Royal Photographic Society.
The common theme of this body of work is dance and movement and serves to illustrate the different approaches the five photographers have taken to capturing a particularly difficult subject matter. Any photography involving the meaningful recording of performing artists going about their daily work routines is difficult enough but to capture both the stillness of a single instance and the vitality of movement is doubly difficult. Not only do these photographers bring into play individual technical skills but there photographs demonstrate that it is equally important to have the ability to work in collaboration with the artists themselves.
The five photographers concerned are: Alan Bastin, Di Wilkins, David Snowden, Miranda Wood and John Sanders. Further examples of their work can be found on their joint website at:
