From February 3 through April 30, 2018, the city of Sens is dedicating an exhibition to photographer Denis Darzacq titled Le bel aujourd’hui (The beautiful today). It is an opportunity to (re)discover the artist’s work through a selection of pieces shown at the Orangerie des Musées de Sens.
Denis Darzacq attempts a revolutionary approach to the place of individuals in society. It is a contemporary ballet where body and scenery respond and clash, bodies in space, dealing with issues about which the photographer has been passionate for more than twenty years.
Photography extracts will be shown at the Orangerie de Sens from his series la Chute, where young people from working-class communities position themselves in front of urban landscapes; Hyper, where these same people try to find their balance in the middle of colorful supermarket aisles; Act, a piece with people with disabilities; Act 2, a commission from 3ème Scène, where dancers from the Opéra de Paris, inspired by the photographs in Act, posed in public spaces; and finally Doublemix In Situ, montages mixing photographs and ceramics created with ceramicist Anna Iris Lüneman on the youth of Seine Saint Denis.
